The
fast-growing practice of ear candling, or coning, whichever
term you prefer is becoming commonplace in Canada. The
technique is not new; its history spans hundreds of years in
such places as India, China, Egypt and Native American healing
arts. Patients are vocal in their satisfaction. Claims
of relief from wax build up, headaches, itchy ears and sinus
irritation are reported regularly. This simple, natural
process must be placed among the most practical of alternative
healing methods.
The ear candling process is simple. While
lying on your side, the hollow candle is placed through a hole
in a tinfoil lined paper plate and the tapered end is placed
gently in the ear. The candle is then lit and a gentle vacuum
is created, which draws up wax and other debris into the
hollow candle.
Anatomically the inner ear, sinuses,
mouth and throat are all connected by passages. It is not
inconceivable then that ear candling affords a cleaning of
much more than just the outer ear. Very sensitive people have
told experiences of being rid of flu and colds overnight with
just one ear candling session. At Lassthetic Salon & Spa
this service has been offered for many years, 4 special
handmade-beeswax candles are being used- 2 in each ear. The
treatment takes 1 hour and costs $ 45.
